CONTACT YOUR U.S. SENATORS AND ASK THEM TO VOTE YES ON THE FEDERAL MARRIAGE AMENDMENT
There are only two weeks remaining before the Senate votes on Senate Joint Resolution 30, otherwise known as the Federal Marriage Amendment, which would legally define marriage as the union of one man and one woman. That vote is expected during the second week of July - so now is your opportunity to contact your U.S. Senators and ask them to support the Federal Marriage Amendment.
To help you understand why this is such a crucial issue, the National Coalition has produced a booklet titled Why is Marriage Important? A Reasonable Defense of Marriage, which provides sound arguments in favor of marriage between one man and one woman. We encourage you to take or send this booklet to the district offices of your U.S. Senators, with a note attached that respectfully requests them to vote YES on the Federal Marriage Amendment. You can call our office at 513.521-6227 to request a copy of this booklet. Do it soon so that you have ample time to send it to your U.S. Senator before July 14.
To find the district offices, go to www.senate.gov, choose your state and click on your senators' names. You will be taken to a screen that lists their district offices with addresses and phone numbers. Congress will be in recess June 28-July 4. Many members will be in their home districts campaigning, attending events and holding meetings with constituents.
You might also consider making a phone call. Each state has only two U.S. Senators - two phone calls from you is all it takes to make a difference. Currently only 16 senators have signed on as cosponsors, expressing their commitment for the proposal - 67 are needed for the resolution to pass!
Please encourage your pastor to observe Marriage Protection Sunday on July 11. A broad coalition of pro-family groups is asking church pastors and other religious leaders to address the topic of same-sex marriage from the pulpit. Please encourage your pastors and leaders to draw attention to this important issue on July 11. The following day, July 12, has been declared "Call Your Senator Day," during which hundreds of thousands of concerned citizens are encouraged to call their senators and ask them to vote YES on the Federal Marriage Amendment.
The National Coalition for the Protection of Children & Families is here to serve you - but now is your time to take a stand...to contact your elected representatives and voice your support for the Federal Marriage Amendment.
