Cincinnati—With the debate over same-sex marriage appearing to lose momentum and fade into the cultural "wallpaper," one has to ask, "Where is the concern?" Doesn't everybody understand the extraordinary significance of this issue and its impact on our society and civilization?

Apparently many do not. The National Coalition is convinced that while the majority of people remain opposed to redefining marriage to include persons of the same-sex, most do so solely on the basis of "moral tradition" and really have no rational basis for their position. This implies that such a moral distinction is merely a matter of personal choice and does not represent a universal moral truth. It is this condition we seek to address because there is overwhelming, rational and compelling evidence that not only affirms the social importance of traditional marriage but also demonstrates the negative impact on this institution and society that the approval of same-sex marriage would have.

Dr. Stanley Kurtz, a research fellow at Stanford University's Hoover Institute has thoroughly examined the impact of same-sex marriage on the traditional family and marriage in Scandinavia where de-facto same-sex marriage has been legal since the late 1980s.

His findings demonstrate conclusively that the devastating societal consequences that many predict will result from the recognition of same-sex marriage is in fact not hypothetical doomsday talk.

We have included Dr. Kurtz' recent testimony before Congress on our web site at www.nationalcoalition.org as an aid in your discussions about this historic issue. We as Christians simply must be equipped with a rational apologetic defending God's design for the family. We will be adding to the web site more information about this timely topic in the coming weeks. In addition, we would like to offer you a booklet, Why is Marriage Important? We believe this booklet will help you persuade others to understand the importance of preserving the institution of marriage in a way that is relevant, rational and responsible.
