Brenda Hyer serves the Seattle office of the National Coalition for the Protection of Children & Families in her role as Program Director.

She has devoted more than 13 years, either as paid staff or as a volunteer, providing administrative support and leadership to nonprofit organizations whose mission is to strengthen families and youth through education, resources, and support services.  Most recently, she was office manager for a Seattle-based ministry.

During her career, Brenda was involved in the start-up of Families First, a federally funded research program whose focus was to help low-income families become self-sufficient.  For more than 10 years, she facilitated parent education workshops for court-ordered families and families in crisis, through the Parent Development Program, a program of Children’s Home Society of Washington, in Seattle.  Brenda states, “I particularly enjoyed working with at-risk junior high and high school aged youth as co-facilitator for Children’s Home Society’s Teen Focus, a program designed to help teens discover their values, strengths, talents, and to help them feel connected with and of value within the community.”

As volunteer/event coordinator for a large nonprofit organization, she provided leadership and motivation for a large group of volunteers and cultivated ongoing relationships with individual donors and organizations.  Brenda is an adept event planner and has coordinated many successful fundraising events, conferences, seminars, workshops and community education events.
